And I hope that Dr. B is no longer part of this site, because she was a sadistic person who took comfort and soothing out of other people's pain, rather than being a true healer--but not nearly as sadistic as my mother, without whom I would've known how better to care for myself in this numb world!!

   Ursula,

How long have you been suffering? Nerve injuries can take months and even years to heal... don't give up hope. Are you doing anything to help yourself? Peruse this site to see what others are using for their pain. Don't give up... ever. Be strong and be proactive. Have you spoken to the dentist who injured you?

Bob

   Dr. B,

I would suggest that you not leave. It's a very few that don't welcome your comments....and all seem to be dentists or atleast claim that they are. Can't help but wonder how many of them were/are on the wrong side of the law.

This site is for patients and we appreciate your advice.

I have lingual nerve damage for 7 years now and i thought of suicide more than once.. But im still here, wondering why no one including god is a healer of nerve damage.. Dr B however was the one who covered my ass when i needed a dental expert witness for my dental malpractice lawsuit to move forward .. Maybe it was the drugs, the shrink and the repair surgery that really made me want to continue living so that i could someday share my sadistic story of the torture of living with lingual nerve damage with the people here..

   Ursula,
There's a pain condition associated with our injury called Trigeminal Neuralgia. The nickname for that condition is called "The Suicide Disease" because of the prevalence of this choice for so many of its sufferers. Hope and effective pain management are everything. Without them, I know I wouldn't have made it either. I encourage you to seek out and cling to both.

Dr. B,
Your advice was invaluable after my injury, and I would hate to know that so many here would lose an opportunity to obtain the same life-saving advice. Please don't leave.

   Karen,

Yea, I'm not into clinging, but I do appreciate seeking, and truth, and healing, and true healing. FYI--I don't have neuralgia, I have informed-consentitis. I have 10% numbness, bilaterally, affects me when I'm trying to really get into a good Graham Greene read, so it still affects my capacity to fully BE, but mostly only when I have disempowermentitis.

By the way, it's different in different cases--in my case, it was a case of lack of empowerment, in Ross's case, it was a case of bad luck (but then he created this help out of it), also (what if Ross had just been in a litiginous frame of mind, out for revenge and/I'm a victim-compensate!). There are also the cases of legitimate abuse/negligence,intentional harm. Rare, in my opinion, and full of so much horror!!

You all know me..I have been coming here for many years. When you think of suicide..sure we all do when there seems like no hope.
I think all of you know me. I have BMS very bad, now it will be 4 years plus with no let up. Because there is so few of us, you must bear this cross, but there is others to listen. Could you imagine if there was no one like you??. think of that one, I did some years ago
when I did not know what was wrong. Certainly lingual nerve
damage is a bitch and very strange in deed. But you know yourself
amd have accepted it and you will live with it as long as it takes
and for life if need be. Accept it for now and there still could be
some hope. The lord only knows the annoyance of it all!!.
sand paper tongue all the time, scalded feeling, not to mention bad taste, salty, sour bitter..you name it!!!..I still don't know who did
this to me but I'm leaning more twards the extensive dental work
performed some years ago.

Relicman

I had my second and third molars capped in Feb 2007, while being injected, the doctor hit a nerve and the left side of my tongue has been numb since then, only getting slightly better in the first 3 months. The tip of my tongue feels like I scroched it (like you would drinking really hot coffee). So after many visits to dental surgeons, no one could help; my dentist offered to numb the other side to match (ha ha). I'm not laughing. At this point, is there any treatment that I can check into. Should I seek legal action against my dentist?

   wiztstar,

Your lingual nerve was damaged from the injection. If you feel as though the dentist was somehow neglegent then yes, seek legal council. There is a chance your injury will not be permanent, but there is also a good chance that it is. Nerve damage takes a LONG time to heal, if ever, and your statue of limitations might run out if you don't file. I would if I were you, unless you are the forgiving type. ARTICAINE SHOULD NEVER BE USED FOR LOWER MANDIBULAR NERVE BLOCKS, and there is ample evidence including the package insert of the drug itself, proving this to be true. Did your dentist use Septocaine (artiaine) for the procedure? Peruse this site for more info and good luck. Start taking Vit. B complex, B12 sublingual (methyl form), R Alpha Lipoic Acid, and fish oil daily to supply your nerves with the nutrients they will need to heal themselves. Good luck.

Bob
