"shooting pain after wisdom tooth extraction"

hi im 18 years old and I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed.3 of them were impacted.it is now 4 days after surgery and when i open my jaw i get a shooting pain in the back corner of my mouth, around where the lower jaw connects to the upper jaw and at the back of my tounge.the vicodin seems to dull this pain but i only have a couple more days worth and even then its still annoying.it also wakes me up at night.has anyone else had this happen?how long do you think it will take to go away?should i tell my oral surgeon?

Yes, you should let your oral surgeon know ASAP. He might want to take x-rays to make sure everything is okay back there. Some people have had some TMJ problems after dental work. And with time most will resolve but you should definately let him know as soon as you can. Let us know how you are doing and what he says. There are also 2 dentists, Dr. B and Dr. CSK that will hopefully see your post and offer their advice, and they would know more about this than I do.
Best Wishes,
CJ
