"cranial dental manipulation"

I had cranial manipulation focused on reducing stress on nerves that feed from the maximary branch into my front teeth, locus of atypical TN pain. Onset occurred when hygenist used front tooth as fulcrum. After 8 months, this is most dramatic impact on reducing pain. And, it makes sense theoretically. Dental and neuropahtways are related, not just one or the other for discussing etiology.

Anyone hear of this esoteric cranial tx? A D.O. is supervising.

hi wphill..could you explain more about this procedure, please? I still have a fair amount of pain from time to time in one front tooth after a wisdom tooth extraction and damage to my IA nerve. It comes along with the 'vice grip' feeling in just that one tooth.

What is a DO? Sorry...I'm new to all this but this sounds interesting! Do you have to go back regularly to this person for treatment?

Therapeutic massage is done outside and inside the mouth...focus includes joints, soft tissue, nerves etc. These folks speak a language that I do not know...so it has the effect of high priestess rap. That's my cynical view. What does make sense is that the underlying concept is that stuff is stuck and needs more freedom to move...and that allows the body to heal itself. I got very promising results first few sessions and now seems that a lot has been over promised. Some work is subtle and some is aggressive. I've had extreme pain following a session. A DO..doctor of osteopathy. If you want to explore this tx, i would look for DO's who allign with their traditional training...google to get more on this...and look for sacral-cranium massage therapists...that specialize in dental pain. Won't be cheap.

This DO practices in Indianapolis and comes to Louisville area once a month. Well regarded as very gifted.
