"Recovering"

I found this site two days ago and want to express my appreciation for all of the help I have found. I was injured 11 days ago from an anesthetic injection given to complete root canal work. However, it took 5 days for the burning and numbness in my tongue to appear. Having had many dental procedures in the past but having never been injured, these symptoms were very frightening. My dentist confirmed an injured nerve after performing a few diagnostic tests. While I am not at all pleased with the situation, I do appreciate his honesty. The last three days have been very difficult with revolving symptoms that have included extreme burning sensations in my tongue, shooting pain in my jaw, and burning/numbness of my lips. Thanks to this site, I began Vit B Complex yesterday along with Vit C. Ibuprofen has helped somewhat, also. I have also prayed, a lot. As I write this e-mail, I can say that I am feeling better. My tongue still has soreness and tingling, but the extreme burning has gone. My lips still have sensitivity, but the numbness isn't there. I would never have thought to start Vit B if it were not for this site. Thank you to all who are writing; you have made me feel much less alone and hopeless. Someone who said to another that it is very early since that person's injury to feel that there is no hope was especially helpful to me. Reading that message through tears gave me the lift I needed to be optimistic. Thank you to all.

   Jand51,

I hope and pray for your full recovery. It's a good sign that some of your symptoms are lessening this soon... perhaps they will all disappear shortly.

Good luck.

Bob

   Bob,
Thank you for the good wishes. I am finding that if I don't have to deal with extreme tongue-burning, I can stay optimistic. From what others are dealing with, I know I am lucky to be cycling through symptoms so soon. I pray for everyone who is suffering more than I. Today, I have tingling of cheek/tongue/jaw. I am staying hopeful. Thanks again........Jan
