"improvement after six months"

"update 2-28-09 improvement after six month pe"

July 8th 2008 first visit, got numbed tooth fixed lower left
July 9th Wednesday tongue is still num
July 10th called doctor tongue is beginning to burn. Doc. says good news and bad news feeling should come back. Bad news doesn’t know when…

July 14 talked to dr. and he prescribed steroids.

filled 07/14/2008 Methylprednisolone 4mg DSPK 21

picked up steroids

July 16th started steroid pack.

July 24th 2008 decided to call a specialist, called the office of Dr. Shahrokh Bagheri in Atlanta spoke with person there he advised to call back in 3 months if issue not resolved. An appointment could be made with Dr. Shahrokh Bagheri at that time. States most of the time problem resolves on its own and the fact I have some feeling in tongue is a positive sign.

Today 6 weeks later 8-22-08 not much change..left side of tongue feels half num and as though scorched with somthing like hot coffee or soup pain all the time when not asleep.....seems pain or burn is worst just before eating and in evenings....

If this is permanent I could see one going into a state of deep depression. The pain is all I think about...if the "burn" would stop I think I could live with the num. I have found that Wrigley's Big Red chewing gun helps at times.

ok today as of 2-28-09.....I can now live with this, near 8 months now.

At six months I though well this is it ...it's just not going to get any better, I was about 75% back to normal at that time but all of a sudden within a two or three week period I had a dramatic improvement
... I feel I am now about 95% recovered..occassional slight stinging once in a while and still a slight taste problem...on left side
I have come a long way...do not give up,as I nearly did, you can defently get better after the six month period...

James David

will keep all posted...wish everyone the best

   james david,

Glad to hear you are improving still. My case is similar but I'm 19 months post injury and I'm about 30 - 40% improved overall. Mostly I have burning, the strange taste sensations have lessened considerably. There are days when I say I can live with it but often I start getting angry when I realize the burning will never leave. Magnets and acupuncture are helping more than anything. I'm taking Vit. B12, B complex, lecithin, fish oil, and ATP. I took the Medrol pack too but it didn't help. Do you know what your dentist injected you with?
